Composition

In summer 2022, after 13 years of playing other people's music, I started writing my own. Composition became a language like no other through which I can express myself.

Currently, I have a string quartet piece in progress.

Dance of the Birds

Cello and Piano

Egrets are graceful, elegant, and majestic, while night herons are stealthy, patient, and cautious. On a hot and humid summer day, I had the privilege of photographing both species in action. Inspired by the playful interactions between the two birds, I composed “Dance of the Birds”. Through the interplay between the cello and the piano lines, this piece portrays the egret and night herons’ vitality in their natural habitat.

Three Preludes for Piano

I. Valley
II. Sunset
III. Flower Field

Inspired by my experience photographing landscapes over the last few years, the three preludes “Valley”, “Sunset”, and “Flower Field” represent the three most fundamental elements to our human experience: the Earth, the Sun, and the life that they support. In these preludes, I reflect on the intricate elements that compose our understanding of nature and my journey of rediscovering nature.
